WHAT IS YOGA?
Yoga means "to unite". Ancient yogis believed that through yoga one is able to unite with the universe. The yoga practice consists of bringing your awareness to your breath, and the arrangement of your body. The different poses and attention to the breath are here to gift us the present moment and prepare us for longer and juicier meditations.
WHAT IF I AM NOT FLEXIBLE?
Yoga is so much more than perfect yoga poses, and fancy handstands. Yoga is a self-soothing tool created to bring you to the present moment. The beauty of yoga is that you do not have to be anything but yourself. Yoga truly welcomes all levels of flexibility, strength, etc. PLEASE do not let the idea that you are not flexible discourage you from engaging in yoga. Yoga is a practice and like any other practice we all consistently put time into goals we want to reach.
WHY SHOULD I DO YOGA?
Yoga brings one to a state of abundance. Yoga brings balance to our overall wellness and a sense of well being. Yoga changes your mind, your physical body, and your soul. Modern-day medicine.
HOW YOGA TRANSFORMS YOU:
Brain scans display how yoga and mediation rewire our brains. For example, a change in the prefrontal cortex has been proven to orient one to feeling acceptance as opposed to stress.
Yoga and meditation have been scientifically proven to alleviate mental illness. It has also been proven to decrease and reverse trauma symptoms. The mental health field has incorporated these two ancient practices into treatment. Meditation and yoga have allowed one to release stress to enter complete bliss.
